Every once in a while I will make a miniature abstract and this one is special because, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, the undercoat is made with a solution of Dragon’s Blood tree resin and some GamVar varnish. You can see a little of the resin. It’s the crimson under the cadmium red.
It’s my understanding that Dragon’s Blood is a particularly strong correspondence with vitality and action. I have also created a special fragrance to celebrate the New Year called “Dragon’s Touch.”
I’ve also done a solution of Dragon’s Blood in alcohol for ink. I plan to use it in a big paper piece later.
